Welcome to Pixel Playground! 👾 by Alexander As Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, continues to navigate significant changes within its organization, a recent report from Bloomberg suggests that both Kerbal Space Program 2 developer Intercept Games and Roll7, the studio behind Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World, will be shutting down as part of the company's mass layoffs. According to an SEC filing last month, Take-Two plans to cut approximately 500 jobs and cancel select in-development projects by the end of 2024.
This news comes on the heels of the company's recent acquisition of Borderlands developer Gearbox Software for $460 million. Both Intercept Games and Roll7 were part of Private Division, Take-Two's indie publishing label, which has produced a range of innovative titles since its inception. Notably, those affected at Roll7 will be offered severance agreements, as announced in a note to staff.
As the gaming industry continues to evolve, it's clear that even the largest and most successful companies are not immune to the challenges and changes that come with it. As we await further updates on this developing story, fans of both Kerbal Space Program 2 and Rollerdrome can't help but wonder what the future holds for these beloved franchises. #GamingIndustry #TakeTwoInteractive #MassLayoffs
