At Summer Game Fest 2024, I had the pleasure of diving into the world of Star Wars Outlaws, an upcoming game that has set the bar high for Ubisoft's stewardship of the iconic IP. In our hands-on preview, I had the chance to play as Kay Vess, a galaxy-faring gunslinger who relies on wit, agility, and cunning to scavenge for resources and take down enemies in short bursts of action-packed fun. 🎯 The game's Corellian hound-eat-hound universe is rich with character, offering a unique blend of exploration, stealth, and space combat that had me hooked from the get-go. 🔴
My preview session was split into three distinct missions, each offering a fresh take on the gameplay experience. From sneaking through gang hideouts to tip-toeing across a derelict ship in search of scraps, and even darting through orbiting debris in daring space combat – I got to experience it all! 🚀
But what truly set Star Wars Outlaws apart was its innovative use of Nix, Kay Vess's trusty droid companion. 💻 With Nix by my side, I could mark my surroundings, distract enemies, and even temporarily discombobulate them with her clever gadgets. The added depth she brought to the gameplay experience made it genuinely enticing – like having a loyal wingman (or wing-droid?) by your side! 👽
