X-Men: The Animated Series may have concluded almost three decades ago, but its revival in the form of X-Men '97 has proven to be a massive hit. As fans eagerly await the second season, Marvel's head of streaming, Brad Winderbaum, has dropped a hint about the show's current status and the time it takes to bring the animation from script to screen 📝🕹️. In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Winderbaum shed some light on where X-Men '97 season 2 stands, acknowledging that fans might need to exercise patience when it comes to the production process ⏰.
Winderbum explained that the show is still in its animatic phase, which means that the animation process has just begun. He humorously referenced a scene from Invincible Season 2, which cleverly pokes fun at the time-consuming nature of animation 🤣. The Marvel streaming boss emphasized that the studio wants to see how successful the first season is before greenlighting the second, which leads to a slight delay ⏳. However, being lucky enough to get the greenlight before airing the first season has reduced the lag somewhat 🔮.
Fans will just have to be patient and trust that the end result will be worth the wait 🙏. With great animation comes great responsibility, after all 😅. As Winderbum put it, "Animation takes so long to make... There was a great bit about this in Invincible Season 2 – they nailed it so hard, it is the greatest. And it takes a long time." #XMen97 #MarvelStreaming #AnimationProcess
